New GE Home Energy Management Business will focus on smart grid technologies including energy management systems and smart appliances.

 GE announced yesterday that it is combining its smart grid technologies, including its smart appliances and its new Nucleus energy management system, into a Home Energy Management business. The new business, which will be run under the direction of General Manager Dave McCalpin, seeks to use digital technologies to create more energy efficient homes. By creating this business, GE aims to capitalize on consumer interest in efficient energy usage and smart grid technologies to sell its appliances and its home energy management system.
