The filing of a Notice of Completion with the County
Recorder is extremely important to the Owner, Contractor, Subcontractor, and
suppliers.  It is used to trigger the
closing period for filing any stop notices and mechanical liens. What would
normally be up to 150 days is shortened to a 30 day period for subcontractor
and a 60 day period for the prime contractor to fire their liens or stop
notices. Filing your notice with the city is a relatively simple process. There
are many forms that can be found online which you can use for a reference. When
filling it out please know the APN# for the address that the project is taking
place. After that a quick notarization of your document, bring in two copies to
that county clerks recorder office to be stamped and filed. With this you have protected
yourself and your client.
